Lincoln Continental Receives IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award

Recently it was announced that the all-new Lincoln Continental, the Lincoln Motor Company's flagship sedan, had earned a Top Safety Pick+, the highest award possible from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), due in part to its available crash prevention system and optional adaptive headlamps.

The Lincoln Continental features an available Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection system that has been designed to reduce the severity of -- and sometimes even avoid -- frontal collisions. The system uses radar and camera technology to deliver a collision alert to the driver, and can automatically apply the vehicle's brakes if the driver doesn't respond promptly.

The available adaptive LED headlamps on the Lincoln Continental earned a good rating for ample lighting on straightaways and the majority of curves. The high beam assist feature will automatically switch between the high and low beams, depending on whether another vehicle is present or not.

For a vehicle to earn a Top Safety Pick+ award, it has to receive good ratings in all five IIHS crashworthiness tests, feature an available front crash prevention system that merits superior or advanced rating, and its headlights must be rated good or acceptable.
